As working from home has become the new norm for many people during this time, setting up a designated office space is important to maximize productivity and help you get in the zone. It is important to create an area that can help you maintain that mental state of focus. Some people might have an extra room that they can transform into their office and others might just have a corner in their bedroom or living room. Either option works as long as you follow these steps.
Whether you have a free wall, an empty room or even a corner of your bedroom, find a way to incorporate a space to work from home.
I find that having an organized desk area and putting things away when I don’t need it, helps keeps me focused. Even stacking things in a way to give you more desk room will keep your mind on task instead of the clutter on your desk.
Think about when you were in the office, do you think you would be as productive and comfortable if you were working 8 hours a day in a chair that doesn’t support you? Investing in a good chair will help you maintain good posture as well as keep you focused on work instead of back pains.
Task lighting is so important especially if you do not have a lot of natural light in your home office. Having low lighting in your space may increase your tiredness and make it difficult to see clearly and comfortably.
Not only does a little green add some color to your area, but plants improve air quality. There have been studies that show plants also increase satisfaction, concentration levels and reduce stress. This is also a great way to connect you outdoors especially when working from home may decrease you actually stepping outside during the day.

I just reclaimed an entire room in my house as part of my therapy and turned it into an office. I love it, but I really need to implement 2 of these. 1st Control the clutter and 2nd Get a good chair. My cute office has become a hot mess with the quickness. Lol. Any advice on keeping the clutter from stacking up while I’m working?
I totally know what you mean, I am constantly fixing the sofa setup since covid started haha because the kids keep throwing the pillows everywhere. I find that the best way to keep the clutter at bay is to find a good system. Get baskets, organizers, keep things off the floor, storage benches, etc. I love all things multi-purpose. Take out only the things you need for the day while you work and focus on one thing.
